Best Bachelor’s thesis 2015: Magnus Roos

After an inordinate delay (for which the humblest apologies), and careful consideration by the year’s examiners, I am pleased to announce that the winner of the honorary prize for the best Bachelor’s Thesis in Cognitive Neuroscience at the University of Skövde for the year 2015 goes to Consciousness Studies student Magnus Roos, for his thesis Speech Comprehension: Theoretical Approaches and Neural Correlates.

The thesis gives a solid introduction to the numerous steps of speech comprehension, from sound waves in the air via the ear to neural signals and their subsequent processing, with an emphasis on the latter. Although the topic is highly complex, Magnus manages to present it in a manner that makes sense of the complexity, without thereby oversimplifying it – a fine balancing act that he has undertaken impressively.

Congratulations to Magnus for the award! And happy Christmas holidays to all!
